What's the most popular style for brides at the moment?

I found that films have made an impact on the styles requested. Including, Frozen, The Great Gatsby, and elven styles from Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit have been very popular; brides have liked the contrast between the complex plait-work for the front of the head and loose, curled hair for the back. While hand-fasting ceremonies have particularly helped showcase these braided styles.

Hair preparation before you style:

I always ask that you prepare by washing and conditioning your hair the night before, or two nights before if the hair is particularly dry, to give the natural oils a chance to rebalance and settle.

Typically how long does a plait last?

A style featuring ‘ribboned’ plait-work on the front of the head can last up to a week. I find the braiding structure gives a robust style that can also incorporate layered hair. Moreover it gives a more versatile 'two-styles-in-one' option for brides, so when the back of the hairstyle needs to be undone at the end of the wedding day, the front section can be slept in - which provides a pre-done style for the day after.

What's your top tip for brides-to-be?

Hair consultations are an ideal way to ensure that both you and your stylist are clear on what you want on the day. Without a practice there's always some element of uncertainty, so I'd always recommend taking the worry out of your day by having a 'style-trial' prior to the event - it allows time to get the complete style tested. Always prepare as fully as possible - and know your timings !
