About Me
I am passionate about hair, and love creating special styles for anyone who wants them. I love the fact everyone requires something different, so I can adapt what I do to suit you; I am asked for styles that flatter the face, hide scars and cover ears!
There is so much potential in plait-work and braiding – especially when you combine it with other hairstyling techniques such as back-combing, curling, straightening, and ribboning - you will soon have a creation that turns heads.
I always loved working with hair - the longer the hair the better! Since I was a child I favoured long hair because of the way it could change my appearance – from looking formal in school photos to glamorous party-looks, sophisticated interview styles or relaxed ‘around-the-house’ looks for when I am doing D.I.Y. ! My hair represents a range of moods.
One of my favourite expressions when teaching is “listen to your hair”! You will know what I mean if you have ever tried to style your hair against it's natural parting, or try to flatten hair down on a double-crown! We are not dictated by our hair-types, but still I find it better to work with our ‘hair-quirks’ rather than against them – it gives a more honest style-result !
Being a fully qualified hair dresser/ hair-stylist, I evolved from mobile work for private clients to public event work locally to delivering tuition at a local College using my teaching qualification, then weddings, and general events across the South East (I am based in Leigh-on-Sea). It is lovely to meet and work with new people.
Weddings and Special Occassions:
I have a lot of experience with a range of styles to suit all ages, tastes and cultures, especially Anglo and Asian weddings - where I have worked with hair that resembles sheets of silk ! I take my time to ensure the styles I create for you will stand the test of heavy weathers during outdoor photography, and hours of rigorous dancing after the ceremony - a unique design that suits your needs, and works for the occasion or theme. Everything has to be right for your big day.
I am experienced at styling for formal occasions: bride & wedding parties, proms, graduations, dinner dances, special nights out and dance-exams. I pride myself in the neatness of my work, and ensuring my creations last ... you won't be worrying about that 'up do' coming down with a Raphael Style. My designs have withstood 'Jive' Dance Competitions, so your hair is safe for that special first wedding-dance.
Teaching and Training:
I hold professional teaching qualifications and am experienced in tutoring individuals, and small to large groups of students.
My lessons, are fun, informative and definitely hands on - you will learn lots of new practical skills, including timed-styles if you want (to improve how long it takes you to get ready for work/ school etc.). If you would like to know how to do your own or your children (s)’ hair I can offer you both public and private lessons for small groups of friends or one-to-one tuition.
Events and Parties:
I provide something different to your traditional face-painting outlets - and unlike face-painting it does not need to be washed-off! Children have a hair- style that normally lasts up to 1 week – a big selling-point for busy parents !
I offer a range of services for all ages and prices to suit - my fees are competitive. I enjoy styling for individuals or groups, indoor or outdoor events, and can travel to most of the South East. Themed parties are always popular - from Disney-themed pamper parties, to elven styles featured in Lord of the Rings/ Game of thrones…. the combinations are endless.
I support local/community events and charities; creating hairstyles where needed.
